Case Study 6

Strategy Workshop

The Background

To decide on the future direction of the business, the client organisation realised they needed to consider some basic strategic issues.  They felt the issues that required consideration were in the areas of: consolidating and improving business with existing clients, new clients and new markets.  Also, they were unsure how they could gain business in new markets and from new clients.  A further issue they felt needed addressing was the visibility of the company to outsiders.  The key people in the client organisation weren't sure these were all the issues or how to consider them in a way that would be meaningful for the business.  They felt they would be unable to make progress with the issues without the support of an independent consultant knowledgeable in strategy and the construction industry.

The objective of this consultancy project was to assess the options and propose the best process to allow the key people in the client organisation to consider the strategic issues.  Then to facilitate the chosen process and provide other support services as considered necessary.
